Grades 6–8: Middle School Core Requirements

In middle school, students in grades 6 through 8 are required to complete four core academic courses each year—one in each subject area: English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies.

Grade 6 students must be enrolled in:

English Language Arts 6

Mathematics 6

Science 6

Social Studies 6

Grade 7 continues with foundational coursework across the same core areas. Students are required to take:

English Language Arts 7

Mathematics 7

Science 7

Social Studies 7

In Grade 8, students complete their final year of middle school core classes with:

English Language Arts 8

Mathematics 8

Science 8

Civics (as the Social Studies requirement)

Each of these courses prepares students for the academic expectations of high school.

Grades 9–12: Choice of Two Graduation Tracks

Accelerated 18-Credit Diploma (ACCEL Track)

The ACCEL track is a faster, more focused path to graduation. This track is ideal for students who want to graduate early, focus on career or college goals, or catch up quickly after transferring schools.

  • You’ll meet the same graduation standards, but with fewer total courses  allowing you to focus on your core academics and finish faster.
  • Many students in this track choose to start college early, enter a trade or certification program, or begin working while continuing their education later.
  • Because there are fewer electives, you may need to take additional coursework or placement exams later if you apply to selective universities, but the diploma itself remains fully valid.

Best for: motivated students who want to graduate early, enter technical or career programs, or move quickly toward college or workforce goals.

Standard 24-Credit Diploma

The 24-credit diploma is the traditional pathway to graduation. It’s ideal for students who want a well-rounded academic experience with room to explore electives and personal interests.

  • You’ll have more electives, which can help strengthen college applications by showing variety, such as, foreign languages, arts, or advanced coursework.
  • This track is ideal for students who want to apply to four-year universities directly after graduation, pursue Bright Futures Scholarships, or explore different career fields through electives.
  • Some competitive universities may prefer students with a broader academic background, which is easier to build through the 24-credit route.

Best for: students who want a traditional academic foundation, plan to attend a university, or want flexibility to explore multiple interests before graduation.
